Invicta swept all aside, as they
romped to the West Kent Sunday League Division 4
title.
They also got to the final of the Kent
Junior Cup, having to win 9 games to do so.
This came as much of a shock to our sponsor at the time,
Owsnett Butchers. For he thought he would sponsor us in
our first season and knowing that the Kent Cup was a very
prestigious competition, offered a rump steak to every
player for every round we progressed. Now if memory serves
me correctly, well over 100 prime cuts of beef were dished
out and Manager Gus Broad, had a rather strange incentive
to get players out of bed on those cold and wet Sunday
mornings.
Needless to say, Mr.Owsnett did not extend the
same incentive the following season!
