Amazing but True!

The following are all true facts uncovered whilst researching the history of the club:

On 27th November 1920 Tunbridge Wells hosted Platt in the Kent Amateur Cup (now known as the Kent Senior Trophy). Tunbridge Wells won convincingly 6-0 and met Ramsgate in the next round. Dover won the final 1-0 in front of crowd of 5,508 at the Crabble stadium.

In 1938 During a Sevenoaks League Division 3 fixture, Platt Res defeated Ightham Res 31-1
A record which I believe still stands today.

On New Years Day 1949 at Dunton Green during a Sevenoaks Division 1 encounter, 10 Platt players left the field of play with 15 mins remaining in dispute of a referee decision. The players in question were all later suspended which ultimately cost Platt the league title, as they did not have enough players to call upon. They eventually finished third in the league.

On 26th January 1952 Platt entertained Sevenoaks Division 1 table-toppers Weald in a league encounter. In front of a sizeable crowd the Weald played "some of the best football seen locally" to go in at half-time leading by 6-1. Fortunately the home crowd stayed to show their support and witnessed arguably the greatest comeback ever seen, when second-half goals from H.Hawkes(2), R.Hawkes, J.Humphreys, Gladdish, Garrett and R.Richardson gave Platt a remarkable 8-6 victory!

At the Centenary final of the Sevenoaks Charity (Senior) Cup in 1994 two ex-professionals were on display; Sevenoaks Town's David Bright who was a squad member with New Zealand who appeared at the 1982 World Cup in Spain and Platt Utd's Mark Penfold who made 70 appearances for Charlton Athletic. (cup final report here)

In the past Platt FC have staged Smiths Cup Finals, Sevenoaks Charity (Senior) Cup Finals and even Kent Junior Cup Finals at their ground.
